Dental Implants
Dental implants provide a strong base for replacement teeth that look, feel, and work like natural teeth. If you’ve lost teeth, implants can help you eat anything, smile confidently, and keep your facial structure intact. The implants are small titanium posts placed into the jawbone where teeth are missing. The bone grows around the titanium, creating a solid foundation for artificial teeth. Implants also help maintain your facial structure by preventing bone loss that occurs when teeth are missing.
How Dental Implants Can Change Your Life
Dental implants are transforming lives by restoring the comfort and confidence to eat, speak, laugh, and enjoy life.

Evaluation for Dental Implants
If you think dental implants might be right for you, we will first perform a dental and radiographic exam and review your health history. During consultations, either Dr. Smith or an Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon we refer to will address your specific needs and questions. We are here to ensure your procedure is successful.
Surgical Advances in Dental Implants
With the latest in dental implant technology, Dr. Smith can use single-stage implants, which do not need a second procedure to uncover them. These implants usually require about six weeks to heal before artificial teeth are placed. In some cases, implants can be placed at the same time as tooth extraction, reducing the number of surgeries you need.
The Dental Implant Procedure
Dental implants are metal posts that replace tooth roots. They are surgically placed into the jawbone. After placement, small posts are attached to the implants, sticking out through the gums to support the replacement teeth.
The procedure generally involves two surgeries. First, implants are placed in your jawbone. Over the next three to six months, they bond with the bone while you may wear temporary dentures and eat a soft diet. During this time, your restorative dentist designs your final bridge or denture.
In the second phase, the implants are uncovered, and a small healing collar is attached. Dr. Smith will then start creating your new teeth. Impressions are taken, and posts or attachments are connected to the implants. Your replacement teeth are made over these posts or attachments. The entire process usually takes six to eight months, with minimal disruption to your daily life.
